Macmahon offers exciting vacation work placements to engineering students, with participants employed over the summer period within the Mining and Construction divisions.

Vacation work is an excellent way to gain real life experience, meet and network with industry leaders, develop new skills, confront challenges head on and assess future career opportunities.

Students are assigned a mentor to guide their placement and ensure they receive involvement in areas such as design, consulting, estimating, decision making and managing project issues.

Towards the end of the program, each student will be assessed to determine eligibility to join the Macmahon Graduate Program.

What's New

Currently 23 vacation students from around Australia are completing their Winter Vacation Program. The program began in June 2008 and will finish in July 2008. Students in the disciplines of Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Occupational Health and Safety have gained valuable experience within Macmahon's construction and mining divisions.

Summer Vacation Work 2008/2009

The summer vacation programme will be a 12 week programme which will begin in December 2008. With the guidance and support from management on site, the vacation students will be able to gain exposure to employment conditions and expectations on mining and construction sites.

The summer vacation program is offered to students studying in their 2nd 3rd and final years in the disciplines of Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Occupational Health and Safety. Positions within other disciplines will be looked at on an individual basis.
